We age and die for explainable reasons as well. This fact seems to surprise most people. It shouldn’t. And that’s why Asher Longevity Institute is here to help.
At ALI, we have sought to understand the primary causes of death from aging. Because the more we know, the more we can do to extend the quality and quantity (in years) of people’s lives.
So, let’s take a closer look at how aging and death are related.
The fancy term is autophagy, which in Greek literally means to “eat oneself”, and it is a necessary biological function that unfortunately degrades as we become older.
It turns out our bodies are in constant need of cleansing out cells that are still functioning, but have lost their ability to divide (e.g. regenerate.) We call them senescent cells, and although the science behind it can be complex the repercussions are quite simple:
Our body’s inability to eat (e.g. cleanse and purge) senescent cells contributes to many of the diseases associated with aging.
One place to look is a favorite seafood delicacy, the lobster. It turns out that lobsters don’t have limits to cell reproduction like us humans. By better understanding why that is, scientific studies begin to shine a bright light on ways to extend that same capability to us humans, including drugs and supplements.

Let’s get to know another fancy-sounding term here – mTor.
No, mTor is not an Avengers’ character. It is short for “mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR). This helpful protein plays a significant role in controlling cell behavior. At its most basic level, mTOR is a protein that helps regulate cell growth when we are younger, and serves as an important controller of cell metabolism, growth, and survival as we become older. It’s what helps turn each of us from an infant into a child, from a child into a teenager, and from a teenager into an adult.
It turns out that over-stimulation of the mTor signaling pathway has been shown to play a significant role in diseases such as cancer and Type-2 diabetes. What is good to help grow us is not always good to help what’s growing in us.
If we can “suppress” the over-stimulation of the mTor protein, then diseases related to aging stand less of a chance to develop. mTor suppression is already playing a significant role in the treatment of solid tumors, organ transplants, coronary restenosis (the reduction of artery diameter again after surgery), and rheumatoid arthritis.
Solution Overview – Metformin (a drug often used to control high blood sugar), periodic fasting, AMPK supplement and Longevity AI supplement.
Ok, time to get our biology book out again. This one is called NAD+, which is an easier way to remember “nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide”. NAD+ is a co-enzyme (protein catalyst) that is essential for cell function, DNA repair and systemic life sustenance.
Unfortunately for humans, NAD+ generally declines gradually, about 4% per year, until it is almost absent in our bodies by age 80.
Studies of mice and actual use by humans have shown that reintroducing NAD+ improved cell functioning at the basic level and restored other bodily functions.
Solution Overview – NAD+ infusions and supplements
It should be no surprise that a strong immune system helps to keep a person healthy. Consisting of organs, cells, tissues, and proteins, your immune system carries out bodily processes that fight off viruses, bacteria, and foreign bodies that cause infection or disease. When this system isn’t working properly, we call it immune dysregulation.
Immune dysregulations is the fundamental cause for diseases in younger adults like severe allergies, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and hypertension in pregnant women. And as we become older, overreactive immune systems become even more common and are associated with other age-compromising diseases including vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and more.
It is becoming clear that as we age, our cells become stuck in longer-lived response states which means the immune system responses are no longer proportional to the actions needed to combat the threat to the body. Boosting your immune system with proper supplements is one clear way to reduce the negative effects of aging.
